Pet Parlour: Where Vancouver Pups Get Pampered

If you've ever tried to give your dog a bath at home, you know the struggle is real. There's water everywhere, your pup is doing their best Houdini impression to escape the tub, and somehow you end up wetter than the dog. So when my labradoodle Luna started looking more like a shaggy carpet than the adorable fluffball she's supposed to be, I knew it was time to call in the professionals.

Enter Pet Parlour on Cambie Street, a local Vancouver gem that's been making dogs (and their humans) happy since 2010.

More Than Just a Grooming Salon

Here's what I like about Pet Parlour: they're not just about making your dog look Instagram-worthy (though Luna definitely got her share of compliments after her visit). This is a family-run business that genuinely cares about pets. The owners, Patricia and Victor, started this whole operation because of their own dog, Max, whose silhouette actually appears in their logo. How adorable is that?

With 15 years of grooming experience and Patricia's certification in Asian fusion grooming techniques, these folks know their stuff. Whether you want a practical short trim that's easy to maintain or one of those fancy teddy bear cuts that make your pup look like a plush toy, they've got you covered.

The Experience

When I brought Luna in, I wasn't sure what to expect. She's friendly but can be a bit anxious with new people. The team at Pet Parlour was incredibly patient, taking time to make her comfortable before starting the grooming process. They use premium Aroma Paws shampoo (human-grade, no less!) and are masters at that magical fluffing technique that makes dogs feel impossibly soft.

Luna came out looking absolutely fabulous – her curls were perfectly trimmed, she smelled amazing, and she was clearly happy. No stressed-out pup here! The attention to detail was impressive, from her neatly trimmed face to her perfectly groomed paws. They even made sure she was completely mat-free, which is no small feat with a labradoodle's coat.

Luna, post grooming, saying goodbye to the folks at Pet Parlour!

It's Not Just Grooming

What makes Pet Parlour special is that they're a one-stop shop for all things pet. They offer daycare services where dogs can socialize, play, and go on daily walks (yes, they actually walk the dogs twice a day – how many daycares do that?). They've got a boutique stocked with premium pet food, treats, and supplies, with an emphasis on local brands and high-quality options like raw and freeze-dried food.

They even offer training services! The team became certified in puppy training and took classes from Karen Pryor, helping dogs with everything from barking and jumping to separation anxiety. It's clear they're committed to understanding dog behavior and helping pet parents navigate the challenges that come with having a furry family member.

The Little Touches That Matter

Pet Parlour has some pretty sweet deals too. Their food and groom program gives you a free grooming session for every 12 bags of kibble you purchase, plus a potential 13th bag through their loyalty program. In this economy, that's not just a nice perk – it's a genuine money-saver.

They're also super accommodating about what style you want. Bring a photo of your dream dog haircut, and they'll make it happen. They can do breed-specific trims, hand-stripping, fluffy Bichon coats, or sleek Yorkie styles. Whatever your vision, they've got the skills to pull it off.

Pet Parlour did a great job with Luna. She looked gorgeous, felt great, and I didn't have to clean dirt out of my bathtub or wait a few hours to get rid of that that wet-dog smell that usually lingers in the bathroom (small victories, people!). Highly recommend it for your dog’s next grooming session. Because sometimes, our dogs deserve to feel as fancy as they think they are.
