Summer Picnic Cruise Staycation At Fairmont YVR

Fairmont YVR offers a safe, luxurious and fun family staycation option with a summer picnic bike cruise perfect for everyone.

If lockdowns, vaccine hesitancy and endless work-from-home Zoom meetings don’t have you questioning the meaning of life, then you are either a zen master, or you’ve already figured out that a staycations is exactly what you need. We spent some quality family time chillaxing at Fairmont YVR and signed up to go on a Summer Picnic Bike Cruise.

It went like this…

Meet and Greet - 2:00pm:

Meet in the lobby to pick up your BMW branded bike with a pannier loaded up picnic goodies.

An Epic Journey - 2:15pm:

Navigate a 30-minute bike ride along collector roads to Iona Beach (if you have kids, put bikes on a bike rack and drive to Iona beach. There are wonderful trails to ride along when there).

Seek and Devour 3:00pm:

Select an appropriate location at Iona beach to spread out your provided Fairmont YVR blanket and enjoy an epic spread of delicious food geared to kids and adults alike. A delicious charcuterie board, PB and J sandwiches, macarons, healthy drinks and more are packed away watching to be pulled out and devoured.

Relax and Reflect 4:00pm:

Iona beach is a beautiful sandy beach with endless nooks and crannies for the kids to explore. We built forts, flipped over rocks in search of sea life and tried to bury our legs in the sand and see who could jump out the fastest.

Extraction to Luxury 6:00pm:

As the sun began to set, I sped back to the hotel on the BMW bicycle and picked up our truck with a bike rack and came back to collect my suns kissed family.

Swim to Slumber 7:00pm:

Our final activity of the day was to order a yummy small dinner off the hotel menu that is open until midnight. Before leaving for the day, we book a 1 hour pool visit for 7:30pm which was the perfect evening activity.

This is a snap shot of one activity of many during of four days staycation at Fairmont YVR staycation. Other activities that we recommend are booking regular visits to the pool, taking advantage of the spa while one parent hangs out with the kids in the room or at the pool. or just kicking back watching the airplanes fly in and out while taking advantage of on-demand TV programming. If you want to explore future afield, you can head into Richmond for outdoor patio fare at our favourite brunch spot, The Story Cafe - Eatery & Bar.

The staff at Fairmont YVR were so kind and welcoming during our stay, the only sad moment during our epic staycation adventures was saying goodbye.
